The Government of the United Kingdom announced financial support worth GBP 210 million (over EUR 242) through the UK Export Finance (UKEF) to support the stable operation of the Ukrainian nuclear power sector over the next two years. The agreement was made public by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer as part of the arrangements reached with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal told, the resource would be directed to supply enriched uranium from Urenco for the Ukrainian national nuclear energy generating company NNEGC Energoatom.

“As nuclear power generates more than half of Ukraine’s electricity, this support is critical for maintaining the resilience of our energy system amid ongoing russian attacks on energy infrastructure. I am grateful to the Government of the United Kingdom, Prime Minister Keir Starmer, UK Export Finance, Urenco company and all British partners for their steadfast support,” stressed Denys Shmyhal.
