Important step for the development of an energy-efficient and modern IT market in Ukraine

The Government of Ukraine has approved a new Technical Regulation on ecodesign for servers and data storage products, developed by the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving.

The regulation establishes clear rules for all manufacturers and importers of servers and data storage systems, aimed at improving the energy efficiency and environmental performance of the products.

The new requirements apply to office and corporate servers, multi-node servers, and devices for online data storage that use SSDs and HDDs.

The regulation aligns Ukrainian standards with European norms (EU Regulation No 2019/424) and is designed not to restrict but to stimulate market development: compliance with the requirements helps reduce energy consumption, increase equipment reliability, and bring Ukrainian standards closer to those of the EU.

The Government decision will enter into force six months after publication, giving manufacturers and importers time to prepare. Until then, the sale and use of servers and data storage systems will remain permitted even if they do not comply with the new requirements.
