On 14 October 2019, on the sidelines of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko met with candidate for the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.
Josep Borrell reiterated a consistent approach of the EU to sanctions against Russia, which aim to compel a full implementation of the Minsk agreements and the restoration of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
For his part, Vadym Prystaiko stressed the necessity of further active EU involvement in the process of stabilization of the situation in the Donbas and briefed Josep Borrell about the preparations for the Normandy Summit at the level of heads of state and government.
The Minister also offered gratitude to Josep Borrell for a clear stance on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, which the candidate for the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy asserted on October 7, at the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee hearings.
The parties also discussed the current Ukraine-EU bilateral dialog and the priorities for key reforms in Ukraine.
“The EU is a key trade partner of Ukraine, which is especially important under the ongoing aggression of Russia. We are determined to continue to actively implement domestic reforms and do appreciate the EU’s support on this path”, said Vadym Prystaiko.
