The Government approved the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine "On measures to commemorate the defenders of Ukraine for the period up to 2025" developed by the Ministry of Veterans’ Affairs of Ukraine.
According to the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs of Ukraine Yulia Laputina, the implementation of the approved plan of national events will help honor the memory of defenders, consolidate and develop the Ukrainian nation, its historical consciousness, as well as form a positive image of the veteran.
"Honoring the memory of the defenders of Ukraine is a priority of state policy. Preservation of national memory is an integral part of national-patriotic education and a guarantee of strengthening the unity of Ukrainians," Yulia Laputina stressed.
The Minister is convinced that only by joining efforts of the authorities and civil society it will be possible to raise the issue of memorizing the defenders of Ukraine to a new level.
In 2021, it is planned to start activities for the construction of the Ukrainian National Pantheon in Kyiv. It is also planned to hold events to establish a National Military Memorial Cemetery. Work will continue on the implementation of the practice of patronizing the graves and military burials of defenders of Ukraine by military units, educational and cultural institutions.
