The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved an action plan to mark the 150th anniversary of Lesya Ukrainka's birth. The relevant order, developed by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, was adopted on February 24.

"Lesya Ukrainka is not only an outstanding writer. But, unfortunately, only literary scholars or philosophers know more about the diversity of her talent. Limitations and stereotyping of outstanding figures of our culture must dissipate. And the state must be actively involved in this process. The more classical events and high-quality modern projects we will be able to implement the more Ukrainians (especially the younger generation) we will introduce to various aspects of Lesya Ukrainka's life. With all her names. I am sure that the plan of this year's events dedicated to the writer will help us achieve this goal", commented the Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko.

The purpose of the document is to create conditions for popularizing the creative heritage of one of the central figures of Ukrainian literature - Larysa Kosach-Kvitka. In particular, by holding solemn and artistic events, scientific and practical conferences, thematic expositions, exhibitions, literary evenings, competitions and festivals, etc.

The plan also provides for:

• Preparation and publication of a complete academic collection of works by Lesya Ukrainka in 14 volumes.
• Carrying out restoration and repair works of "White and Gray Houses of the Kosachs" in the village of Kolodyazhne, Kovel district, Volyn region, and the reconstruction of the Novohrad-Volynsky literary memorial museum of Lesya Ukrainka.
• Creating an information portal dedicated to the life and work of the writer.

The draft order was developed by the MCIP in pursuance of the Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of February 8, 2018, № 2286-VIII "On the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Lesya Ukrainka."
