    The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has established an interagency working group to tackle climate change as part of the European Commission’s initiative "European Green Deal".

    The key target of which is to protect the health and well-being of citizens from the risks and consequences of climate change, as well as to ensure coherence of actions of all branches of the executive power in fulfilling the set goals of sustainable development of Ukraine.

    "We will shape an agenda to reduce emissions under the Paris Agreement in synergy with the European Union. Ukraine wants to accede to the Agreement at the stage of task formation as a full-fledged player," Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk stressed.

    The PM added that, next Tuesday, during the sixth meeting of the Ukraine - EU Association Committee, the issues related to cooperation under the European Green Deal will be discussed.

    The decision to set up such a group was endorsed within the framework of the European Commission’s initiative "European Green Deal". The working group will function as a temporary advisory body to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

    The group will be headed by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba.
