Today, May 30, 2018, during the session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the National Transport Strategy up to 2030 "Drive Ukraine 2030" has been approved.
Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan called the Strategy a program document that envisages the development of transport and infrastructure industries in the coming 12 years: "I assure you the document is rather advanced and aims not only at solving the problems of today, but also at creating the new infrastructure reality. We can endlessly patch holes on roadways or upgrade cars having been used for 40 years or more. But only ambitious plans and a "large infrastructure revolution" can give new quality to Ukraine. The construction of a modern state requires advanced approach."
According to Volodymyr Omelyan, the strategic goal is to ensure Ukraine’s integration into the world economy and a technological leap in the sector of infrastructure.
The Minister also noted that a strong team of experts and advisers from Europe, the Ministry staff and the Reforms Delivery Office had been engaged in elaborating the document.
"We have to look beyond our national Ukrainian thinking and set ourselves global goals. Strategy-2030 is not about transport. Strategy-2030 is about a modern Ukraine, about a developed strong state, about people for whom we have created the best. Because it is our commitment and our job", added Volodymyr Omelyan. "Drive Ukraine-2030" means transformation of Ukraine into a developed, high-tech and innovative country through the development of transport and infrastructure, the use of advanced technologies. "Drive Ukraine-2030" means digital infrastructure, transport safety, unmanned cars, transport corridors, a common transport and infrastructure network with the European Union."
The presentation of the Strategy will take place within the framework of the International Trade and Transport Week in Odessa from May 29 to June 1, 2018.
