Today, March 17, at its session, the Government approved an intergovernmental agreement between Ukraine and Slovakia on the terms of use of a certain part of Slovak airspace in connection with the provision of air traffic services by a designated Ukrainian air navigation service provider at Uzhhorod International Airport.
This agreement will allow to restore the full functioning of the airport and connect Zakarpattia region by air with other regions of Ukraine, as well as internationally.
"We are at the stage of completing all domestic procedures required for the entry into force of the new intergovernmental agreement between Ukraine and Slovakia on Uzhhorod Airport. Its implementation will allow resuming the full operation of the Airport in the near future because due to its territorial features and close location to the border with Slovakia, the airport can operate flights only using Slovak airspace. I am grateful to the Government of the Slovak Republic for cooperation and colleagues for supporting this important decision," said Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Kryklii.
It should be noted that on September 24, 2020, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Kryklii and the Minister of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic Andrej Doležal signed a bilateral intergovernmental agreement on the provision of aviation services by Ukrainian service providers in a certain part of Slovakia's airspace regarding Uzhhorod Airport.
