One of the main global trends in the direction of transformation of the energy sector and green transition is switching to renewable energy sources. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at the 12th International Ukrainian Energy Forum on July 14.
According to him, in Ukraine, the share of renewable energy sources (RES) together with hydropower companies is 12%. For comparison, in the EU by 2030 the share of RES should reach about a third.
The Prime Minister noted that Ukraine is on the path of these changes and the Government will exert every effort to promote the development of the industry.
"The Government and the responsible Ministry are working to ensure that the development of green energy in Ukraine is harmonious and fair. This applies to the launch of "green" auctions, and the issue of balancing the energy system as well as the development of energy storage technologies," said Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister added that Ukrenergo, Ukrhydroenergo and private energy companies are working in this area, and the Government expects to see positive results of such technologies in the coming years.
