The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved seven winners of the selection process, five independent members and two state representatives, as members of the Supervisory Board of JSC Ukrposhta. The decision was made at a meeting on March 21, 2023.
The independent members of the Supervisory Board are Rinat Abdrasilov (Kyrgyzstan, Senior Partner of Cambridge Management Consulting, UK), Jakub Karnowski (Poland, experience in the supervisory boards of Ukrposhta and UZ), Gary John Carroll (UK, postal business), Olena Malynska (Ukraine, strategic management and banking), and Ihor Mitiukov (Ukraine, financial management). The Supervisory Board also includes two representatives of the state: Natalia Bernatska (Ukraine, professor of commercial and labour law) and Kristina Prasolova (Ukraine, economist). This Supervisory Board has almost complete gender equality: three out of seven members are women.
The key requirements for the candidates included experience in supervisory boards of large companies, management experience in banking/finance, logistics and postal services, international and investment activities, experience in digital and strategic transformations, etc.
“This Supervisory Board should become an impetus for the company’s development, attracting new investments and implementing modern services. We expect that the new professionals will strengthen the team of the state postal operator,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.
According to the First Deputy Prime Minister, the Supervisory Board is a part of the corporate governance reform. Therefore, the new composition of the Supervisory Board of Ukrposhta will have a majority of members from Ukraine and will be better aware of the realities of the Ukrainian economy. At the same time, the foreign members should implement the European experience of transforming organisations similar to Ukrposhta, as well as introduce the latest business development tools in the field of digitalisation and banking.
This is the second selection process for supervisory boards of state-owned companies held this year. In January, the Government approved the members of the Supervisory Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine.
