Government approves additional mechanism for faster reconstruction of housing facilities after shelling

After another horrific shelling of Kyiv, the Government is launching an additional mechanism that will allow communities to restore damaged housing - apartment buildings and dormitories - faster. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko following an extraordinary meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on August 2.

The Prime Minister explained that the procedure would be simplified: “The main stages can be completed in parallel, and work can begin before the examination is completed.”

"All actions are recorded in an electronic system, and responsibility for timing and quality is on the ground. The restoration will be financed from either local budgets or international assistance. The decision will also speed up through payments under the eVidnovlennia program," said Yulia Svyrydenko.

According to her, the Government's decision also provides for targeted payments from local budgets to families whose housing is damaged, compensation for temporary accommodation costs until the repairs are completed or new housing is obtained. “Such payments can be financed from the local budget by the decision of the community,” the Prime Minister said.

The Government also decided to send a draft decree to the President to dismiss the head of the Mukachevo District State Administration, Serhii Haidai, from his post.
