Government launches new support programme for farmers to purchase Ukrainian fertilisers and increases compensation for land reclamation

The Government is stepping up its support for farmers: it is launching a new programme to purchase Ukrainian fertilisers and increasing compensation for land reclamation. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko.

Farmers will be eligible to receive up to UAH 1,000 UAH per hectare in non-repayable grants for the purchase of Ukrainian-produced compound mineral fertilisers — at a rate of up to 7 tonnes per 100 hectares of farmland. Applications can be submitted via the State Agricultural Register. 

“This will help reduce farmers’ costs and support Ukrainian fertiliser producers,” emphasised Yulia Svyrydenko.

In addition, the Government is expanding state support for land reclamation. The maximum compensation for farmers and water user organisations has been increased to over UAH 30,000 per hectare across Ukraine, and to over UAH 48,000 per hectare in frontline areas.

The Prime Minister emphasised that farmers will be capable of restoring and modernising irrigation systems more quickly, as well as expanding irrigated areas where they are most needed today. From 2027, this support will be indexed annually. 

The Head of Government stressed: “This is a continuation of the systematic reform of land reclamation.” The Government has begun modernising irrigation systems in the Odesa region. In particular, it has increased state support for land reclamation in frontline areas to 80 per cent. 

The Government consistently supports Ukrainian farmers: 

- a humanitarian demining programme is underway ;

- compensates for the cost of Ukrainian agricultural machinery, and the construction and renovation of farms;

- supports producers in areas where farming is risky.

Yulia Svyrydenko reported that this week the first five agricultural producers from frontline regions had received increased compensation — 40 per cent of the cost of Ukrainian agricultural machinery. 

According to the Prime Minister, since the start of the year, the Government has received applications from small farmers for UAH 1.1 billion in aid under European programmes. The funds will be paid out within the coming month. Opportunities for the export of Ukrainian agricultural produce have also been expanded.

Today, on All-Ukrainian Farmers’ Day, Yulia Svyrydenko expressed her gratitude to everyone who, despite the war, works the Ukrainian land every day.
