At its meeting on 19 January, the Cabinet of Ministers disbursed a record amount of money for the development of defence borders. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

"We are talking about UAH 17.5 billion to be used for the construction of engineering and fortification structures, relevant equipment and a system of non-explosive barriers. The funds are allocated to the relevant departments and regional state administrations," the Prime Minister said.
In addition, the Government has approved a mechanism to distribute an additional subvention to communities in the amount of UAH 33.4 billion.

"This is a substantial amount that will help local authorities to carry out all the necessary expenditures for the sustainability and development of our state," said Denys Shmyhal.

According to the Head of Government, the support will be provided in two stages. First of all, funds are allocated to the communities that need it most. In particular, to the de-occupied territories and territories where hostilities are taking place.
