The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated an additional UAH 5 billion from the state budget reserve fund for the purchase of drones for the Defence Forces. The Government supported the relevant draft decision developed by the Ministry of Economy at a meeting on 18 March.

“The need for drones in the security and defence forces is extremely high. The current decision will allow us to purchase strike unmanned systems from manufacturers, which are very necessary for our defenders today. This is only a small part of what the state plans to supply to the security and defence forces this year. In total, we have already signed agreements with UAV manufacturers worth about UAH 30 billion, and we are in the process of preparing contracts worth UAH 14 billion. And, of course, this is not an exhaustive list. Meeting the needs of the frontline is priority No. 1. Therefore, the Government will continue both planned and operational funding for the procurement of drones,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.

In accordance with the Government’s decision, the funds have been allocated to the Administration of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection, which is to purchase the relevant equipment and transfer it to the Defence Forces.
