Government approves decision to establish budgetary institution “Humanitarian Demining Centre”

On April 7, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a draft resolution “On establishment of the budgetary institution ‘Humanitarian Demining Centre’”.
Establishing the Humanitarian Demining Centre within the State Emergency Service of Ukraine will allow to:
- improve the system of coordination of all entities involved in humanitarian demining in Ukraine;
- organise proper interaction between donors funding humanitarian demining activities and providing international technical assistance, mine action operators, and local governments.
In addition, it will facilitate:
- development and implementation of the latest demining technologies and methods, which will improve the quality and efficiency of this process;
- attracting non-governmental investment in humanitarian demining in Ukraine;
- competition in the provision of humanitarian demining services by mine action operators of all forms of ownership in accordance with the requirements of the law.
Implementation of the draft resolution will make it possible to optimise and accelerate the implementation of humanitarian demining in Ukraine.
