Government adopts decision to make veterans’ grants even more accessible: Denys Shmyhal

The Government has adopted a decision that makes grants for veterans to start their own business more accessible. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on 24 December.

According to him, the Government pays great attention to supporting the development of veteran businesses by launching various programmes. In particular, 1,100 veterans and their families have already received over UAH 500 million in grants to start and develop their businesses.

“Today, the Government is adopting a resolution that makes veterans’ grants even more accessible. We give defenders the opportunity to choose the project implementation period: three, five or seven years,” said Denys Shmyhal, adding that entrepreneurs who pay taxes on the amount of the grant within the specified period would be eligible for an additional grant payment.

The Prime Minister stressed that the Government was implementing a number of important programmes for Ukrainian business. In particular, more than 22,000 microgrants have been issued by the state to citizens to start their own business. In addition, almost UAH 1.2 billion in grants have been issued to farmers for greenhouse farming and gardening. Entrepreneurs are being supported in every possible way under the updated comprehensive programme “Made in Ukraine”.

Today’s Government meeting also included a decision to improve the provision of psychological assistance to veterans, the Prime Minister said.

“We are expanding the composition of multidisciplinary medical teams, as well as increasing the maximum amount of funds that the state reimburses to non-governmental institutions treating veterans,” said Denys Shmyhal.
