Government establishes headquarters to prepare for heating season: Denys Shmyhal

To ensure light and heat for citizens during the autumn-winter period, the Government has established a headquarters to prepare for the heating season. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a Cabinet meeting on 30 May.

He noted that the headquarters, led by Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba, would have several objectives. These include coordinating the actions of central and local executive authorities, facilitating the creation of regional and municipal headquarters, promptly addressing issues, and monitoring the preparation of housing and utility infrastructure.

“The volume of gas injected into storage facilities in May exceeded last year’s figures for the same period by 40%. We have already commissioned 130 MW of cogeneration unit capacity and 250 MW of thermal capacity from modular boiler houses. In total, we plan to connect over 900 MW of such capacities in 2025,” Denys Shmyhal emphasised.

The Prime Minister also reported that the Ukraine Energy Support Fund had accumulated contributions exceeding EUR 1.1 billion. These funds will be used to procure energy equipment for the restoration and modernisation of energy infrastructure.
