The Ukrainian Government is enhancing backup heat supply as part of the preparations for winter. To this end, the Government has directed an additional UAH 3 billion from the State budget’s reserve fund to advance the construction of 247 new block-modular boiler houses with a total capacity of 1.3 GW.

This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

During the seventh meeting of the Coordination Center for the Implementation of Comprehensive Regional Resilience Plans, steps were agreed upon to accelerate the connection of existing equipment.

Previously, the Government had allocated UAH 424.8 million for connecting existing modular boiler plants. Work on this has already begun.

Special attention was given to the issue of payments by district heating companies for gas consumed. The Government, together with local authorities and Naftogaz, is working on a comprehensive solution to settle current debts and prevent their accumulation in the future.

“The sector must operate stably and guarantee a reliable gas supply during the upcoming heating season,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

She also instructed the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development and the Ministry of Energy to submit coordinated proposals to the Government for consideration in the near future.

Preparations for winter are proceeding systematically within the framework of Regional Resilience Plans to ensure the stable operation of critical infrastructure and essential services for the public.
