The Government of the Swiss Confederation has decided to allocate 14 million Swiss francs to finance and supply rail fasteners for the restoration of railway infrastructure and the smooth functioning of railway transport. The relevant grant agreement was signed today by Deputy Prime Minister for Rehabilitation of Ukraine - Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to Ukraine Claude Wild.
"From the first days of the full-scale invasion and almost every day the railway is subjected to terrorist attacks by the russian federation. Despite this, the company continues to perform its most important functions - to ensure the evacuation and transportation of passengers, transportation of humanitarian cargoes and goods necessary for the defense of the country.
The cooperation of Ukrzaliznytsia with the Swiss Confederation will allow financing the goods, works and services necessary to reinforce almost 300 km of the railway network in Ukraine.
This is an important contribution to support the stability of the road network and the recovery of Ukraine. I am grateful to the Government of the Swiss Confederation and Ambassador Claude Wild and I am confident that the implementation of this project will be the first successful stage of our cooperation in this direction", commented Olexandr Kubrakov.
The delivery of rail fasteners should take place in 2023. The works are planned to be carried out on major highways.
