Government expands access to the UAH 200,000 targeted state support payment for young doctors

The Government has expanded the programme under which young doctors can receive a targeted state support payment of UAH 200,000 upon taking up employment, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko announced.

“Graduates of medical specialties who have completed their internship at state higher education institutions and have taken up employment for at least three years at state- or municipally-owned healthcare facilities in communities experiencing a critical shortage of medical workers are eligible for the one-off payment,” the Prime Minister said.

Previously, the programme applied to graduates who started work in areas of active hostilities and in rural communities.

It will now also be available to young doctors employed at healthcare facilities located in areas of possible hostilities (except for Kyiv region and the regional centres of Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kharkiv and Chernihiv).

The decision is aimed at strengthening the capacity of the healthcare system and ensuring that healthcare facilities have the specialists they need in regions where the healthcare system remains under increased pressure and shortages of doctors across various specialties persist.
