On the sidelines of the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), which is taking place in Spain, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odile Renaud-Basso.

The parties discussed a number of issues pertaining to assistance to our country. The Head of the Ukrainian Government noted the importance of almost EUR 7 billion of investments attracted since the beginning of the full-scale invasion to support the Ukrainian economy, in particular for the implementation of critical infrastructure projects.

"The EBRD is actively cooperating with Ukrainian state-owned companies, including Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukrenergo and Naftogaz. I am particularly grateful for the approval of a EUR 270 million loan to Naftogaz for emergency gas purchases this year," said Denys Shmyhal.

He also added that work was underway to expand cooperation with the EBRD, in particular through the EU guarantee mechanisms.

The meeting also dealt with preparations for the Recovery Conference to be held in Rome in July.

"We are working on signing significant documents on cooperation with the EBRD in both the public and private sectors. In particular, in the energy, communications, and transport sectors. New projects in cities and communities are being prepared. We continue to pursue our previous agreements reached at the Spring Meetings in Washington," the Prime Minister said.

He emphasised that an important source of funding for the reconstruction must be confiscated Russian assets.
