  • Ukrainian Hydrogen Council, EHA, H2LV and DWV concluded a Memorandum of partnership in hydrogen energy sector

Plans for the development of hydrogen energy in Ukraine were discussed by representatives of the Ukrainian delegation together with international associations and companies at the forum within the framework of the largest hydrogen exhibition of Europe "Hydrogen + Fuel Cells Europe", which is taking place this week from April 1-5 in Hannover, Germany.

As is known, Ukraine sees an accelerated pace of installation of renewable energy facilities. Only in the first quarter of this year facilities with more than 860 MW capacity were put in operation, which exceeds the showing of the whole of 2018.

"It is just hydrogen energy sector that can play a key role in the accumulation and balancing of the power grid, including covering peak loads", said the head of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine Serhii Savchuk.

Therefore, for the development of this sphere, the draft law dated December 5, 2018, No. 8449-d already provides for the development of incentives to boost the accumulation of energy in Ukraine.

In addition, the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving with the VRU Committee on Fuel and Energy complex initiated the establishment of the Interdepartmental Working Group on the introduction of electric energy accumulation systems in Ukraine, the first meeting of which is scheduled to take place on April 5 this year.

At the same time, Ukraine is actively supported by European partners on this path.

So, at the exhibition, the Ukrainian Hydrogen Council, the German Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (DWV), European Hydrogen Association (EHA), Latvian Hydrogen association (H2LV) signed a Memorandum of Partnership in Hydrogen Energy Sector.

"I believe that cooperation with European partners will allow to improve and introduce the effective Roadmap for the development of hydrogen energy in Ukraine, the draft of which has already been prepared by the Ukrainian Hydrogen Council and the Institute of Renewable Energy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine", said the Head of State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving.
