Ukraine is motivated to improve the efficiency and transparency of the national military-industrial complex. And here the combination of our efforts and the experience of our strategic partner - the United States - is critical. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said during a meeting with US Senior Military-Industrial Complex Reform Advisor Donald Winter. Mr. Donald Winter, former United States Secretary of the Navy and head of defense and aerospace enterprises, has the necessary expertise and opportunity to assist with the adoption of decisions on the intensification of bilateral military-technical cooperation and placement of orders at Ukrainian defense enterprises. He was appointed Senior Advisor on May 28th within the framework of active cooperation of The Pentagon with the Ukrainian Defense Ministry. One of its strategic objectives is the comprehensive assistance in reforming Ukroboronprom State Concern.
It should be noted that this is the second official visit of the U.S. official to Ukraine. The first took place in February this year. Now, according to the plan, more substantive negotiations should take place - first of all with the Government officials, the leadership of Ukroboronprom and the leadership of a number of Ukrainian enterprises that are part of the State Concern.
Welcoming the guest, the Prime Minister of Ukraine stressed that the reform of the Ukrainian defense sector is among the fundamental priorities of the Government, which has been unchanging in recent years. It is of paramount importance for Ukraine, which is actually defending the eastern border of the European Union nowadays, to ensure that the national military-industrial complex could fully cover the critical needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and strengthen its position in the international arms market.
"No doubt, you’ve got an important role, and we are committed to combining efforts, knowledge and expertise to improve the efficiency of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex", emphasized Volodymyr Groysman.
"I am happy to be here in Ukraine. I have an important task. And for me, it is an honor to provide assistance to those who are now at the front line and restrain aggression. I hope I can use my experience of 45 years of work in different positions, in order to give advice on the development and reform of the Ukrainian defense sector", Donald Winter said in turn. "Ukraine can be proud of its history and its technologies, in the first place, in the defense-industrial complex".
