  • Ukraine and Lithuania sign memorandum on consumer protection

    The State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection and the State Consumer Rights Protection Authority of Lithuania have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the main areas of cooperation in the field of consumer protection.

    From the Ukrainian side the document was signed by Olha Shevchenko, acting Chairman of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, and from the Lithuanian side - Director of the State Consumer Protection Service Neringa Ulbaite.

    The signing of the Memorandum will ensure the creation of an organizational basis for cooperation between the two countries necessary for the implementation of a coordinated policy in the field of consumer rights, aimed at establishing equal conditions for the protection of interests of citizens of both Ukraine and Lithuania from unfair market participants.

    It should be noted that this week, the delegation of the State Consumer Rights Protection Authority of Lithuania has been staying with its first visit to Ukraine. During the visit, there took place negotiations between representatives of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection and the State Consumer Rights Protection Authority of Lithuania. The parties became acquainted with the functions and powers of both competent authorities in the field of consumer protection and discussed the prospects of development of cooperation between the countries in the specified direction.
