France is important political and economic partner of Ukraine both in the context of the Normandy process and cooperation in various sectors of the economy in which the rate of mutual trade turnover can be increased to USD 3 billion for a year. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman made this statement during a meeting with Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Jean-Yves Le Drian.
"France is a reliable strategic partner of Ukraine. Unwavering position of Paris on territorial integrity of Ukraine is of utmost importance to us. We praise France's support of our sovereignty, the Head of Government emphasized, last year the turnover between our countries totaled USD 2 billion, and I'm sure that we can increase it by one third - up to USD 3-3.5 billion".
In turn, Jean-Yves Le Drian reiterated France’s unwavering support to Ukraine and commitment to help to preserve Ukraine's integrity and sovereignty. "France also expresses readiness for economic cooperation, it can be useful for both sides", the Minister said.
In this regard the parties agreed to intensify their activities within the scope of joint commissions and committees on key issues – the agrarian sector, energy, civil service reform, etc.
Within the framework of the meeting, a Joint Statement of Intent on the Development of Bilateral Cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France was signed.
