  • Ukraine will receive an investment grant from the EIB for the construction of a series of transport interchanges in the western part of Ukraine

    Today, August 25, 2020, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the draft Law of Ukraine "On Ratification of the Financial Agreement (Project" Transport in Ukraine - Phase I") between Ukraine and the European Investment Bank", which provides for a loan of EUR 50 million to Ukraine.

    The project will be co-financed by investment grants and technical assistance grants under the Neighborhood Investment Platform and the State Budget of Ukraine to the extent necessary to finance costs not covered by the loan.

    “The project envisages the implementation of a series of small transport projects aimed at solving the problems of the transport network in Ukraine. The project also aims to improve road transport in the EU's Eastern Neighborhood area, provide strong support for small-scale transport projects with a significant direct positive impact at the local level, and help implement projects that can deliver tangible results for citizens,” said Deputy Finance Minister Oleksandr Kava.

    Background

    Within the framework of the project implementation it is envisaged the following:

    • Construction of the north-eastern section of the bypass road in Ternopil (1-st turn of the bypass road).
    • Multilevel interchange in Rivne region (Roads M-06 / M-19) (1-st turn of the bypass road in Dubno).
    • Multi-level interchange in Lviv region (M-06 / M-12 highway, 1-st turn of the bypass road in Stryy).
    • Overpass over railway tracks in Lviv region (M-06 highway) (southern bypass road of Lviv).
    • Overpass over the highway in Rivne region (transport interchange) through the overpass T 18-01 (2-nd turn of the bypass road in Dubno).
    • Multi-level interchange at the intersection of the M-19 highway and the bypass road of the city of Ternopil (2-nd turn of the bypass road of Ternopil).
    • Deployment of Intelligent Transport Systems for transport management and control.
