On Tuesday, July 13, the Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko met with Vice-President of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the results and prospects of Ukraine's cooperation with the European Commission in implementing energy sector reforms.
German Galushchenko stressed that the priority for the Ministry of Energy and Ukraine is the synchronization of the Ukrainian electricity system with the European energy system ENTSO-E. Achieving this goal, according to the Minister, will be useful for both Ukraine and Europe in the context of developing electricity markets and strengthening energy security.
"I appreciate Mr. Maroš Šefčovič personal role in the tripartite talks on resolving gas issues with Russia. This was a significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine's energy security. I am happy to admit that Ukraine has such a reliable friend and even now, during the integration of Ukraine into ENTSO-E," German Galushchenko stressed.
Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič, in turn, confirmed that Ukraine can count on the further assistance of the European Commission in carrying out reforms in the energy sector, as well as on political support in the issue of synchronization with ENTSO-E.
