The State Road Agency of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) inked Memorandum of cooperation with the Turkish construction company Cengiz. The main direction of cooperation is the development of the Ukrainian part of the international transport corridor of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, namely the route Nova Kahovka - Mariupol.
"From March 1, we are launching the Great Construction initiative across the country. The Government's priority is to cover Ukraine with high-quality roads. That is why we will always support constructive initiatives, including the Memorandum of Cooperation, signed today, " said Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk.
The framework of cooperation envisages carrying out large-scale repair works in three regions: Kherson, Zaporizhya and Donetsk. At present, the expected value of the project is UAH 9.1 billion.
"The memorandum of cooperation literally brings us back to the issue of upgrading a key section of the M-14 road. Such initiatives are accelerating the realization of our primary goal - a major overhaul of roads of national importance ", Chairman of the Ukravtodor Olexandr Kubrakov stressed.
He also placed a special emphasis on the positive experience of Turkish companies, which will be useful for Ukraine. Cengiz has been operating in the market since the 1970s and has such cases as constructing airports (including Istanbul and Kuwait International Airports) as well as building12 dikes and more than 1,200 km of roads.
"The route Nova Kakhovka - Mariupol is the main traffic artery of the southern region of the country in the direction of West-East and an important route for many tourists who go to the resorts of the Azov Sea. Due to non-compliance of the repair deadlines, the road surface needs renewal along the entire route," a member of the board of management of Cengiz company commented.
