On 25 September, a thematic meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine was held, dedicated to environmental issues.

As a result, a series of decisions were adopted that bring Ukraine closer to international standards in the field of European integration:

1. Approaches to accounting for mineral resources have been updated.

The National Classification of Mineral Resources has been aligned with the UN Framework Classification. This decision will:

  • make the sector more transparent and understandable for investors;
  • enhance the competitiveness of Ukrainian raw materials on the global market;
  • open new opportunities for business and economic development.

This step is a continuation of cooperation between Ukraine and the USA in the field of mineral resources.

2. Ensuring compliance with European norms on the green transition.

The Government has introduced new requirements for informing about the environmental performance of passenger cars. From now on:

  • every new car will have a sticker with information on fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emission levels;
  • at points of sale, buyers will be provided with data on the most environmentally friendly car models.

These measures will promote informed choices by citizens, reduce emissions, and fulfil European standards as part of the green transition.

“Ukraine continues to implement reforms that bring the country closer to European norms and promote sustainable development of the economy and ecology,” commented Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko on the decisions.
