Ukraine and the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States deepen cooperation in food security
On November 11, during a working visit to the Kingdom of Belgium, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Taras Vysotskyi met with Secretary-General of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) Moussa Saleh Batraki.
This is an important step in the development of Ukraine's international food diplomacy, which traditionally remains one of the key exporters of agricultural products to Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific region, ensuring food stability in the world, even despite the consequences of full-scale war.
During the meeting, the parties addressed common approaches to strengthening global food security and opportunities for expanding economic partnership between Ukraine and OACPS member countries. Particular attention was paid to the possible transfer of technologies, knowledge, and innovations in the field of agricultural production with the aim of developing the domestic agricultural potential of the Global South Countries.
"Ukraine is not only a reliable food supplier, but also a partner that seeks to share knowledge and technology to strengthen global food security. The dialogue with OACPS opens up new opportunities for cooperation with countries of the Global South, both in trade and in the development of agricultural systems that can provide stability for millions of people around the world," said Taras Vysotskyi.
Deepening cooperation with OACPS will allow expanding the geography of Ukrainian agricultural exports, launching joint projects for the development of the agricultural sector, and strengthening Ukraine's role as a guarantor of global food stability.
Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky invited the Secretary-General and members of OACPS to participate in the Food from Ukraine International Summit on Food Security, scheduled for November 19 in Kyiv under the auspices of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
