Ukraine and France discussed the list of priority projects for the restoration of energy and critical infrastructure, which will be implemented under the Grant Agreement between the governments of the two countries for EUR 200 million. This was discussed during a meeting between Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, and a delegation from the French Republic headed by Pierre Heilbronn, Special Envoy of the President of the French Republic for Ukraine’s Relief and Reconstruction.

“Today, the Government’s priority is to implement projects to restore the Ukrainian energy sector and build a decentralised generation system that will provide citizens with electricity and enable further economic recovery,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko.

According to her, the grant funds from the French Government will be used primarily for the reconstruction and restoration of critical infrastructure in such sectors as energy, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, water supply and sewage, waste management, demining and housing.

Yuliia Svyrydenko also called on French partners to join other investment projects aimed at rebuilding Ukraine.

“We have launched the Strategic Investment Council, which was created to identify priorities and prepare a single portfolio of public investment projects. This step will help us to communicate effectively with our partners, improve transparency and mutual trust, and ensure the efficient allocation of funds,” Yuliia Svyrydenko continued.

During the meeting, the parties discussed Ukraine’s mine action needs, including increased procurement of equipment, personnel training and mine action capacity development. They also discussed the implementation of government programmes to support citizens and businesses, such as eOselia, Affordable Loans at 5-7-9%, a grant programme for small and medium-sized enterprises, and the Government’s Made in Ukraine policy.
