A delegation from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, headed by Deputy Minister for European Integration Oleksandr Balanutsa, met in Kyiv with a delegation from the Ministry of Defence of Estonia, headed by Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence of Estonia Kusti Salm.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the situation at the frontline, the level of russian defence production and the threats it poses to neighbouring countries.

"We are grateful to Estonia for its continued support and the signed agreement on security cooperation. Today, Ukraine is defending not only its territory, but also all its neighbours bordering the terrorist country. I urge you not to stop in your assistance so that the enemy does not come to you as well," Oleksandr Balanutsa urged.

One of the key topics of discussion was the need to strengthen air defence and find new ways to impose sanctions on russia. The parties agreed that new options for restrictions and blockades of the aggressor country should be developed.

"Estonia will not change its position - we support Ukraine in its struggle for freedom and independence. The signing of the agreement on security cooperation and long-term support is a proof of this. We are aware of the price the Ukrainian people are paying in this war and we will stand by their side to the end," assured Kusti Salm, Permanent Secretary of the Estonian Ministry of Defence.

The meeting focused on the results of the recent NATO Summit in Washington, DC. The parties also discussed the NATO Security Assistance Training Ukraine (NSATU) programme, which is another step forward in strengthening military support to Ukraine and enhancing interoperability with Allies.
