Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko met with Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Johan Forssell as part of the international conference “Energy for the Recovery of Ukraine” taking place in Warsaw.
Special attention was paid to cooperation in the nuclear industry. In particular, the successful production of a new type of fuel for VVER-440 reactors by Westinghouse Electric Sweden with the participation of experts from the Ukrainian NNEGC Energoatom. Previously, fuel for reactors of this type was produced only in russia.
“This is a success story of Ukrainian-Swedish-American cooperation. I am convinced that we have many more joint projects ahead of us that will be successfully implemented,” said German Galushchenko.
He thanked the Swedish representatives for their support to the Ukrainian energy sector, in particular through contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, established at the Energy Community Secretariat on the initiative of the Ukrainian Minister of Energy and European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson.
Another important topic of the meeting was the future cooperation in the development of renewable energy and the implementation of relevant projects in Ukraine. Sweden’s experience in this area will be useful in the process of restoring and rebuilding the Ukrainian energy sector.
The Minister of Energy of Ukraine also thanked more than 40 Swedish companies participating in the exhibition as part of the Energy for the Recovery of Ukraine conference and stressed the high potential for cooperation in the development of green energy and the transformation of Ukraine into a European energy hub.
