Today, on February 1, 2023, during the visit of the President of the Republic of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen to Kyiv, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology of the Republic of Austria signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of an energy partnership in the field of energy transition and renewable energy sources.
The document was signed by the heads of the respective ministries, German Galushchenko and Leonore Gewessler.
"Austria actively assists the energy sector of Ukraine, in particular, it has transferred 260 tons of energy equipment for restoration works and makes significant contributions to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine. We are grateful for this support, which is extremely important for us," said Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko. "However, even now, in this difficult time, we are thinking about future ambitious projects that we will work on together with our Austrian colleagues.
The parties have determined the exchange of experience in the energy transition, accelerating the deployment and use of renewable hydrogen, environmentally friendly biogas and biomethane as priorities for future energy partnership.
"This is an important step in our long-term cooperation, as the restoration and further development of the Ukrainian energy sector will contribute to strengthening the energy security of the entire European continent," added German Galushchenko.
