In cities and urban-type settlements across the country: scaling up the light bulb exchange service through Diia under joint EU and Government program

From now on, in cities and urban-type settlements across the country, Ukrainians can exchange old incandescent light bulbs for energy-saving LED bulbs through the Diia. The service will be launched in Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions on February 9. The exchange is a joint program of the Government of Ukraine and the European Union.

Previously, the program was available only in regional centers, as well as in Kryvyy Rih, Kramatorsk and Pokrovsk. During this time, Ukrainians have already ordered more than 1.1 million energy-saving light bulbs for exchange through the Diia.

Now the program has been scaled up, and another 6 million energy-saving bulbs have been delivered to 1,300 Ukrposhta offices in cities and towns across the country. By the end of February, LED lamps will be delivered to even the smallest villages, so that every Ukrainian can exchange old lamps for energy-saving ones and contribute to saving electricity.

Since January 30, Ukrainians have already exchanged 1.4 million old incandescent lamps for new energy-saving LED lamps. Most of the lamps were exchanged in Kyiv - more than 230,000 lamps. In Dnipro - 130,000 lamps, in Lviv - 94,000, in Kharkiv - 91,000. As part of the program, the European Union has financed 35 million energy-saving LED lamps for Ukraine, and the French government will provide another 5 million.

Experts estimate that switching to this type of lamp will reduce electricity consumption by 7-10% during peak times. This will help to significantly reduce the electricity shortage in the system.

The program is supported by the European Union in response to President Zelenskyy's call and is being implemented by the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, and Ukrposhta in all regions of Ukraine (except for the temporarily occupied territories and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea). The new EU-funded program is part of the European Union's support for Ukraine's energy front.
