The Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry hosted a meeting chaired by Deputy Minister for European Integration Natalia Boyko with a delegation of the European Investment Bank (EIB).
Natalia Boyko noted that cooperation with the EIB is of a constructive and dynamic character and broad prospects for further support of the development of Ukraine's fuel and energy complex.
The Ukrainian party emphasized that the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry shares the Bank's position on reforms in the oil and gas sector and electrical grid industry, and expressed readiness to prolong cooperation with the EIB in order to discuss investment plans and key reforms that should facilitate leveraging of the necessary funding.
Participants tackled the progress of implementation of joint projects with the EIB and promising directions on financing projects in the fuel and energy complex, in particular in the development of hydropower and RES (renewable energy sources), which will contribute to the fulfillment of the objectives set forth by the Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2035.
For its part, the Director General of the Directorate for Strategic Planning and European Integration Vitalii Kushnirov informed in detail the Bank's representatives on the implementation of measures for the preparation of promising energy projects.
The parties expressed their interest in further fruitful cooperation on expanding the portfolio of the EIB investment projects in Ukraine.
The EIB was represented by Lionel Rapaille, director of lending operations at the EIB for Eastern Europe, Adam Bruun, Deputy Advisor, head of Pacific Regional Office, and Iñigo Arencibia González, the Specialist of the Energy Sector of European Investment Bank.
The Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry was also represented by Iryna Kozyra, a state expert of the expert group on investment policy of the Directorate of Strategic Planning and European Integration.
