German Galushchenko, Minister of Energy of Ukraine, discussed with Dan Jørgensen, EU Commissioner for Energy and Housing, and Denisa Saková, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Slovakia, the issues of cooperation to ensure energy stability and security.

The trilateral meeting took place in Brussels during the working visit of the Minister of Energy to Belgium.

German Galushchenko informed the partners about the devastating consequences of the recent russian attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, in particular on the gas sector. In this context, the parties discussed Ukraine’s energy needs and the issue of natural gas imports from European neighbouring countries.

“The enemy has intensified attacks on our gas infrastructure, including production and compressor stations. Unfortunately, this has consequences. That is why we thank our European partners for their support in these difficult times and reiterate that russia is using energy as a weapon, so the EU must be as united as possible to counter russian pressure,” the Ukrainian Energy Minister said.

Special attention was paid to diversifying sources and routes of natural gas supplies to Ukraine and Slovakia, as well as developing the necessary infrastructure.
