In 2023, the German Government allocated EUR 50 million to improve the living conditions of IDPs. The project is called “Improving the housing conditions of internally displaced persons in eastern Ukraine”.
It is being implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) with the assistance of the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories and the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW).
The aim of the initiative is to strengthen the capacity of the Government of Ukraine to provide internally displaced persons and vulnerable populations with adequate housing through affordable long-term rental housing.
The project envisages the construction/reconstruction of 24 facilities (1,670 apartments) in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Vinnytsia and Kyiv regions.
