Despite the full-scale invasion, all Ukrainians who had an insured event continued to receive benefits for medical treatment, maternity and childbirth benefits, as well as funeral expenses payment.
Over the past year, the Social Insurance Fund of Ukraine provided sick leave benefits to 2.5 million of Ukrainians – most of whom, 1.9 million, received payments after February 24. More than UAH 17 billion was allocated for this purpose.
The largest share of payments was received by insured persons employed in Kyiv, with more than UAH 4 billion of benefits paid in 2022. The second largest amount of sick leave benefits was paid to employees in Dnipropetrovsk region – almost UAH 2 billion, and the third largest amount was paid to employees in Lviv region – about UAH 1.4 billion.
Also, the Social Insurance Fund of Ukraine has continued to make payments to employees in the temporarily occupied territories. In particular, last year, 95,000 insured persons in Donetsk region, 15,000 – in Luhansk region, and 15 000 – in Kherson region received assistance from the Fund.
As a reminder, starting January 1, 2023, the tasks and functions of the Social Insurance Fund have been transferred to the Pension Fund. The Social Insurance Fund of Ukraine is in the process of termination.
