  • Situation in the power system as of 10 May
Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, posted 10 May 2024 11:16

Situation in the power system as of 10 May: due to damage to power facilities, industrial consumers had to be cut off from electricity supply in the evening and at night; restrictions are still possible today.

    GENERATION, TRANSMISSION, CONSUMPTION

Over the past day, the needs of consumers were covered by domestic generation, commercial imports and emergency supplies from the power systems of Poland, Romania and Slovakia. The total volume of emergency supply was about 3% of daily electricity consumption.

Also, during daytime hours, Ukraine received surplus electricity on an emergency basis at Poland's request.

Today, at Ukraine's request, emergency electricity supplies have already been made from Poland, Romania and Slovakia. Emergency assistance is also planned for the evening peak hours of electricity consumption.

Due to network restrictions on the transmission system operator's lines, outage schedules are in place for all consumers in Kharkiv region and for industry in Kryvyi Rih.

From 18:00 on Thursday to 7:00 on Friday, restrictions were imposed on industrial consumers in all regions except Kherson region. At the same time, electricity supply to household consumers was not restricted.

In the southern regions, to prevent overloading of equipment at one of the high-voltage substations, the transmission system operator limited electricity generation from renewable sources during daytime hours.

    PLEASE CONSUME RESPONSIBLY!

Given the significant damage caused to the power grid, we ask consumers to reduce the use of energy-intensive appliances during peak hours (especially in the evening from 17:00 to 22:00).

Industry - to review production processes to reduce the load on the power system, as well as to use imports as much as possible to avoid outages and strengthen the resilience of the power system.

    CONSEQUENCES OF SHELLING

In Dnipropetrovsk region, shelling damaged an overhead line, de-energised a power company substation, and cut off power to household consumers (all of whom have been supplied with electricity).

In Kharkiv region, the shelling disrupted the overhead line, power supply to power company substations and household consumers.

In Chernihiv region, 600 consumers were simultaneously cut off from power due to damage to an overhead line.

In the southern region, an explosion occurred near one of the high-voltage substations as a result of a UAV crash.

    STATE OF THE GRIDS

A high-voltage substation in the southern region was out of service due to a technological failure. The substation is now powered, the cause of the outage is being investigated.

    SITUATION AT ZNPP

The water level in the cooling pond has slightly decreased to 15.37 metres. This is sufficient to meet the needs of the plant.

    IMPORT/EXPORT

For the current day, electricity imports are forecast at 13,904 MWh. No exports are expected.
