Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, posted 21 March 2024 10:06

In Kyiv region, 1,700 consumers are without power due to massive enemy shelling; no electricity shortage

    POWER GENERATION

A unit at one of the thermal power plants has been put out of service for emergency short-term repairs. This will not affect the supply of electricity to consumers. There are 7 nuclear power units in operation, with sufficient thermal and hydro generation capacities in reserve. Commercial imports and exports of electricity are planned. The situation is under control. The system is balanced. No blackout schedules are applied.

    CONSEQUENCES OF SHELLING

The fall of enemy missile fragments damaged power grid equipment in Kyiv region. 1,700 consumers are without power. Restoration works are underway.

Overhead lines in Chernihiv region were disconnected as a result of shelling, and almost 800 consumers in 10 settlements lost power.

Shelling damaged gas distribution networks in Kharkiv region, leaving more than 600 customers without gas supply.

In Sumy region, an above-ground gas distribution pipeline was damaged as a result of hostilities, leaving 30 consumers without gas supply.

    STATE OF THE NETWORKS

Overnight, two 220 kV overhead power lines of NPC Ukrenergo in Lviv region went down, which cut power to 132,000 consumers, including Ukrzaliznytsia facilities (no train traffic was disrupted). As of the morning, all consumers have been reconnected.

A 330 kV high-voltage overhead line in Poltava region was out of service for technical reasons. The line has been brought back online.

    SITUATION AT ZNPP

The water level in the cooling pond is 15.52 metres. This is sufficient to meet the plant’s needs.

    IMPORT/EXPORT

For the current day, electricity imports are forecasted at 3,305 MWh. It is also planned to export up to 2,148 MWh.
