  • Situation in energy system as of 20 May
Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, posted 20 May 2024 10:29

In the evening, restrictions for consumers may be imposed due to the lack of electricity after the Russian attacks

    POWER GENERATION, TRANSMISSION, CONSUMPTION

Yesterday, the needs of consumers were covered by domestic generation, commercial imports and emergency assistance from Romania, Poland and Slovakia.

During the day, Ukraine provided emergency assistance to Poland, receiving surplus electricity from the country’s power system.

Today, at night and in the morning, at Ukraine’s request, emergency electricity supplies have already been made from Romania, Slovakia and Poland.

Also today, from 18:00 to 24:00, restrictions on industrial and household consumers may be imposed in all regions. The reason for this is a shortage of electricity in the power grid following the russian attacks.

    CONSEQUENCES OF SHELLING

In Chernihiv region, 848 customers in 5 settlements were simultaneously disconnected due to hostile shelling.

In Sumy and Kharkiv regions, the shelling damaged gas pipelines, leaving 30 customers without gas supply.

    SITUATION AT ZNPP

The water level in the cooling pond has slightly decreased to 15.31 metres. This is sufficient to meet the plant’s needs.

    IMPORT/EXPORT

For the current day, electricity imports are forecast at 19,499 MWh. No exports are expected.
