Due to the shortage of electricity following the russian attacks, restrictions and emergency power cuts were applied to consumers; restrictions and power cuts are also likely today
POWER GENERATION, TRANSMISSION, CONSUMPTION
Yesterday, the needs of consumers were covered by domestic generation, commercial imports and emergency assistance from the power systems of Poland, Romania and Slovakia.
Also yesterday, during the daytime, Ukraine provided emergency assistance to Poland, receiving surplus electricity from the country’s power system.
Today, at Ukraine’s request, emergency electricity supplies have already been made from Poland, Romania and Slovakia. Emergency assistance will also be provided during the evening peak hours of electricity consumption.
On Thursday, from 00:00 to 9:00, restrictions were imposed on industrial consumers in all regions except Kherson region. These restrictions will also apply in the evening – from 16:00 to 24:00.
Last night, emergency power cuts were introduced in all regions of Ukraine. The reason for this was a significant shortage of capacity in the power grid following the russian attacks, as well as increased consumption due to the cold weather. The restrictions were lifted around midnight, but re-imposed in certain regions (Dnipropetrovsk region, Kyiv city and Kyiv region, Kharkiv region).
Outages are still possible today during the peak load.
STATE OF THE GRID
Yesterday evening, one of the high-voltage overhead lines in Kyiv region was out of service. It was taken out for emergency repairs, the cause is being investigated.
This morning, equipment at a high-voltage substation in Rivne region was disconnected for technological reasons. It is back in operation, and consumers were not cut off.
Yesterday in Dnipropetrovsk region, an overhead line of a regional power company was disconnected for technological reasons. As a result, the substation and the household consumers connected to it lost power. All consumers have been reconnected.
EMERGENCIES
In Donetsk region, a ventilation equipment malfunctioned during a power outage at a mine. 124 workers were brought to the surface. Power supply to the mine and ventilation equipment have been restored.
