Svitlana Grynchuk: Strengthening cooperation with Slovakia is key to Central Europe’s energy security
During a working visit to Uzhhorod as part of a government delegation led by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk participated in several strategically important meetings aimed at enhancing Ukraine’s energy resilience and European integration.
In discussions with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and talks with Slovakia’s Economy Minister Denisa Saková, Svitlana Grynchuk addressed specific steps to deepen cooperation.
“As President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasised, the potential for cooperation between Ukraine and Slovakia in ensuring energy resilience for both countries is immense. We are already translating this potential into practical solutions,” noted Svitlana Grynchuk.
She highlighted significant progress in projects to expand the capacity of energy interconnections between Ukraine and Slovakia, particularly on the Mukachevo – Veľké Kapušany line. This project, funded under the Ukraine Facility programme, will significantly enhance electricity export and import capabilities in the future.
Svitlana Grynchuk stressed that diversifying supply routes is a key priority for cooperation in the oil and gas sector.
“This is a shared priority. We are ready to develop alternative gas supply routes to the region and work together on projects that strengthen Central Europe’s energy security,” the Minister underscored.
The Energy Minister also engaged with Zakarpattia business representatives: “It’s vital for us to understand the region’s needs and the primary concerns of entrepreneurs. We focused particularly on developing renewable energy, support programmes, and lending. These are valid issues that require attention at the state level. We agreed to maintain an ongoing technical dialogue to find optimal solutions.”
