Today, at the regular meeting of the Government, the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine "On the establishment of the State Service for the protection of critical infrastructure and ensuring the national resilience system of Ukraine" was adopted.

The legal grounds for drafting this resolution are the requirements of the Law of Ukraine "On Critical Infrastructure". The newly created central body of executive power will have a special status, the activities of which will be guided and coordinated by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. It will ensure the shaping and implementation of state policy in the field of critical infrastructure protection and ensuring the national resilience system.

The establishment of such a Service is necessary to create, introduce, develop and ensure the functioning of the national system of protection of critical infrastructure of Ukraine. Critical infrastructure facilities are facilities or systems, their parts and their combination, which are important for the economy, national security and defense, the disruption of which may harm vital national interests.

However, the adopted resolution should be revised in terms of establishing the maximum number of employees of the newly formed body due to the corresponding redistribution of the maximum number of employees of other central executive bodies without increasing the total number of employees in the сentral executive authorities system.

In the future, the newly established body will be transferred expenses from those bodies, the number of which will be reduced, thereby ensuring a corresponding saving of the state budget.
