The development and implementation of programmes for the return of Ukrainians from migration is something that the Ministry of National Unity, headed by the newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister, will work on. This was emphasised by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during a Government meeting on 3 December.
He welcomed the appointment of Oleksii Chernyshov as Depty Prime Minister - Minister of National Unity of Ukraine by the Verkhovna Rada and informed that today the Government had decided to rename the Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories to the Ministry of National Unity.
The Head of Government stressed that the new agency would institutionally strengthen the policy towards Ukrainians who had to leave in different years. This is exactly the task that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasised when presenting the Internal Resilience Plan.
"This will be one of the main tasks for the new Ministry and the Minister. The strategy, programmes and incentives on how to bring Ukrainians back to live and work in Ukraine," Denys Shmyhal stressed.
The Prime Minister accentuated the importance of unity in overcoming the challenges facing the state.
"From the first day of the russian invasion, unity has been our main weapon. Unity within the country and unity of Ukrainians around the world. It should remain the same in the future. Unity is one of the key principles in the formation of new state policies and programmes," said Denys Shmyhal.
He also stressed that the Cabinet of Ministers had decided to introduce the post of Government Commissioner for Customs Reform, who will coordinate the customs reform, to be held by Ihor Smeliansky. A coordination working group has also been set up.
"Its task, headed by the Commissioner, will be to synchronise with the EU, modernise infrastructure, introduce a risk-based system, digitalise and much more," the Prime Minister explained.
