Getting stronger day by day. Defensively. Economically. Politically - Prime Minister addresses Ukrainians

In a video address to Ukrainian citizens on Saturday, February 12th, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal called on people not to panic, but to trust the Ukrainian Army and believe in Ukraine.

Fellow Ukrainian citizens!

The enemy has been pursuing a war against Ukraine for 8 years.

For 8 years, Ukrainian soldiers have been defending borders, diplomats - negotiating, and Ukrainians - living with the understanding that there is a dangerous and insidious neighbor who is trying to intimidate us, break us, destroy us.

But today, unlike back in 2014, our Army is ready.

Yesterday, together with the Prime Minister of Lithuania, I was personally on the contact line. What have we heard from the command of our Armed Forces? That currently the Army is provided with everything necessary - from fuel to weapons. That the Armed Forces are constantly monitoring the course of events. I would like to emphasize once again that the Army is ready to repel the enemy at any moment.

The war waged against us is not just about soldiers and weapons. It has a number of dimensions.

The gas crisis in Europe, the depreciation of the hryvnia, cyberattacks on government resources, massive pseudo-mining of critical infrastructure, paid rallies… These are all elements of a hybrid war.

And the worst of those is misinformation with panic.

We live in a world of rapid dissemination of information, when panic is a gift to the enemy. It is panic that destroys states better than tanks and guns.

This is not the year of 2014, but 2022! Our army is strong, our position on the international arena is strong. We are an economically strong country today.

The budget targets are met. Balances on Treasury accounts are consistently high. International reserves make up USD 29 billion. There are no real macroeconomic reasons to destabilize the hryvnia exchange rate - let's not create them ourselves, playing into the hands of the enemy.

Our international partners have demonstrated their support not in words but in deeds - their assistance strengthens our army, our economy, our position in the international arena day after day. Such unity of the world's leading democracies has not been demonstrated for decades. And our enemy can see it. And they are trying to rock the ship from the inside: to intimidate us, to separate us, the Ukrainian citizens.

We are getting stronger day by day. Defensively. Economically. Politically.

The only thing we really need today is not to succumb to hybrid provocations of the enemy, to misinformation. Our Army is ready! Our Army is strong! Our Army is brave! That's what we should be. Our soldiers must feel that behind them is also a force – wise and united Ukrainian people with a strong spirit!

Trust your State! Trust your Army! Believe in Ukraine!
