The price of gas for consumers set for August, first of all, the population should become the basis for the next heating season, because now the purchase of fuel is underway, and it is procured at a favorable purchasing value. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman at a Gov’t session. He reminded that in May the price of gas dropped by 25%. And in August the further decrease is projected.

"The forecast for August there will be a decrease. And this should be the price for the upcoming heating season. The country is now purchasing gas. Hence, it will be bought cheaper than it has been procured so far", said Volodymyr Groysman.

Given the dynamics of the gas price formation in the Ukrainian market, and taking into account the data of the Ukrainian Energy Exchange, as of today UAH 4,643 excluding VAT per 1,000 cubic meters, and NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy - UAH 4,640 for the industry excluding VAT, the final price of gas for the population in August will decrease by at least 5.5%, as compared to the price in July, and will amount no more than 4,640 excluding VAT per 1,000 cubic meters.

Commenting on that, the Head of Government Volodymyr Groysman said: "Despite the opposition of the monopolist, we have found a solution and forced Naftogaz to sell gas to the population cheaper. The price of blue fuel for the population in general throughout the three months has dropped from UAH 5,803 to 4,640 excluding VAT. As a result of the Government decision, the price of gas fell by 25%."
