Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Ruslan Strilets met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to Ukraine Melinda Simmons.

According to the Minister, in the days when at the 27th UN Climate Summit in Egypt almost all world leaders are talking about the deepening climate crisis due to russian military aggression, this is an important meeting.

The parties discussed:

• the functioning of the environmental sphere in wartime
• recovery plans and Ukraine’s climate ambitions
• the importance of investments of international partners in the post-war recovery of Ukraine

“We agreed to establish cooperation between the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs of the United Kingdom. The UK’s experience in the field of environmental protection is important for us,” Ruslan Strilets said.

The Minister also told Ms. Melinda Simmons about important practical support that Ukraine receives from EU countries. In particular, he spoke about assistance from Lithuania.
