Ukraine is interested in further developing defence cooperation with Romania, one of its key partners. This was stated by Minister of Defence of Ukraine Rustem Umerov.
The Defence Minister took part in the Ukrainian-Romanian intergovernmental consultations chaired by the Prime Ministers of the two neighbouring countries, which took place in Kyiv.
In his speech, Rustem Umerov welcomed the joint meeting as a strong signal of bilateral cooperation and thanked the Romanian partners for their unwavering support in the fight against russian aggression.
“We have received significant assistance from Romania in the field of defence. The support of Romanian friends is felt on the battlefield, both on the ground and in the air,” said the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
Rustem Umerov is convinced that cooperation between the two countries around the Black Sea will also be strengthened in order to restore security in the region.
During the bilateral meeting, the Ukrainian Defence Minister thanked his Romanian counterpart Angel Tîlvăr and his team for the stable operation of the logistics hub and for their efforts to train Ukrainian specialists in Romania.
Rustem Umerov and Angel Tîlvăr also discussed areas of further cooperation and Romania’s experience in NATO integration.
